According to the World Health Organizations (WHO), COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered type of coronavirus. The new virus and the disease caused by this were not known before the outbreak in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. Until now, COVID-19 has become a pandemic that has occurred in many countries around the world. As of Monday (21/6/2021) morning, there were an additional 13,737 positive cases, bringing the total number of Covid-19 cases in Indonesia to 1,989,909 cases. Of the total cases, 1,792,528 of them were declared cured. Meanwhile, the number of the corona virus in Indonesia has caused 54,662 deaths. Until now, there are still 142,719 active cases in Indonesia.since it was first confirmed on March 2, 2020. The COVID-19 virus can easily spread, especially from person to person, through droplets from the nose or mouth that come out when a person infected with COVID-19 coughs, sneezes, or talks. These splashes are relatively heavy, the journey is not far and they fall to the ground quickly. People can become infected with COVID-19 if they inhale the splashes of an infected person. Therefore, it is important for us to know how to prevent it, such as maintaining a minimum distance of 1 meter from other people and always using a mask.

The main aim of the essay is to critically analyse the prevention of Covid — 19. In order to focus the discussion, the essay will only discuss the prevention of Covid — 19. The essay will start by discussing a little about how the spread of the Covid 19 virus is contagious. Finally, there will be suggested ways to prevent Covid — 19.

Corona virus infection or COVID-19 is caused by a coronavirus, which is a group of viruses that infect the respiratory system. In most cases, the coronavirus causes only mild to moderate respiratory infections, such as the flu. However, this virus can also cause severe respiratory infections, such as pneumonia, Middle-East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).There are allegations that the Corona virus was originally transmitted from animals to humans. However, it was later discovered that the Corona virus was also transmitted from human to human.

A person can catch COVID-19 through various means such as accidentally inhaling the saliva that comes out when a person with COVID-19 coughs or sneezes, holding your mouth or nose without washing your hands first after touching an object that has been splashed with the saliva of a person with COVID-19, close contact with a person with COVID-19, the Corona virus can infect anyone, but the effect will be more dangerous or even fatal if it occurs in advanced people age, pregnant women, people who have certain diseases, smokers, or people whose immune systems are weak, for example in cancer patients.

Because it is easily transmitted, the Corona virus is also at high risk of infecting medical personnel who treat COVID-19 patients. Therefore, medical personnel and people who have had contact with COVID-19 patients need to use personal protective equipment (PPE). Currently, Indonesia is vaccinating COVID-19 regularly to the people of Indonesia.

Even though vaccination has started to be carried out, the best preventive way is to avoid factors that can cause you to be infected with this virus such as applying physical distancing, which is to keep a minimum distance of 1 meter from other people, and don’t go outside the house unless there is an urgent need. Use a mask when doing activities in public places or crowds, including when you go shopping for groceries and attend worship on holidays, for example Eid al-Adha. Routinely wash your hands with soap and water or hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol, especially after doing activities outside the home or in public places. Do not touch your eyes, mouth and nose before washing your hands. Increase endurance with a healthy lifestyle, such as eating nutritious foods, exercising regularly, getting adequate rest, and preventing stress. Avoid contact with sufferers of COVID-19, people who are suspected of being positive for the Corona virus, or people who are sick with fever, cough, or runny nose. Cover mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing, then throw the tissue in the trash. Keep clean objects that are often touched and the cleanliness of the environment, including cleanliness of the house.

For people who are suspected of being exposed to COVID-19 (including the suspect and probable categories) previously referred to as ODP (people under surveillance) and PDP (patients under surveillance), there are several steps that can be taken so as not to transmit the Corona virus to other people such as conducting isolation independent by temporarily living apart from others. If this is not possible, use a different bedroom and bathroom than those used by other people. Do not leave the house, except to get treatment. If you want to go to the hospital when your symptoms get worse, you should first contact the hospital to pick you up. Forbid other people to visit or visit you until you are completely cured. As much as possible do not have meetings with people who are sick. Avoid sharing the use of eating and drinking utensils, toiletries, and sleeping equipment with other people. Wear a mask and gloves when you are in public or with other people. Use a tissue to cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, then immediately throw the tissue in the trash.

To encourage the efforts recommended by the government in minimizing the spread of Covid-19 is to carry out programs that have been implemented by the government, namely the PSBB or Large-Scale Social Restrictions. PSBB itself broadly means limiting social activities, such as activities at schools and workplaces, religious activities, activities in public places or facilities, social and cultural activities, public transportation operations.

This PSBB serves to protect people from contracting Covid-19 until the last case. But of course without the cooperation of the community, the policy will not work. Therefore, it is hoped that with the implementation of the PSBB, the community will also participate in complying with the regulations that have been made by the government.

In dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic, the Indonesian government has made various efforts, from limiting community activities to clinical trials of vaccines. The role of the community is also important in efforts to tackle this pandemic but there are still many who do not comply with the appeal from the government. The hope is that the public will also care more about the current pandemic condition by complying with existing health protocols.
